We Picked Our Placing Agency

After making the decision to adopt, we started researching different agencies last Fall.  When you are adopting, you can go two different ways.  The first way is the most traditional, which is where after all of your paperwork is sent to your country and approved, you are put on a waitlist.  The government chooses the children with the families based on the criteria you put on your forms.  The other route is through a waiting children program.  A waiting child is an older child or sibling group that is ready and waiting for a forever family.  While searching on waiting children's lists on the internet, we discovered two brothers in July.    When we first started the adoption process, we said we would love to have two brothers that are close in age from Colombia, and here they are!  The agency we would work with is called Lutheran Social Services of MN.  We happened to be find them the week we were going to MN to see Dainis's family!  We called and were able to make an appointment with them before we flew home on Monday.  God is definitely at work!

Our First Fundraiser Event

We had our first adoption fund raiser event today!  It was a church wide parking lot sale and very successful!  We had lots of friends help and the youth did a car wash.  We sold baked goods and hot dogs.  We are off to a good start!O
