Barbies

Barbies have been another big hit for all of our kids.  They really enjoy setting up the houses, dressing all of the dolls, and playing together.  This can provide a lot of fun play time for them all.  We have tried really hard to buy and set up activities for the kids, that encourages pretend play.  These are all new things for them, and it has been a great learning experience for them to learn how to play like this.  Before joining our family, the kids never had the opportunity before to play with many indoor toys.
Along with some smaller Barbie houses, they now have a big castle to play Barbies with.  So, for now, our grocery store has been turned into Barbie Land.

Bouncing Balls

The kids loved these bouncing balls at our hotel in Colombia.  So, we bought them some when we got home.  Although they are a lot bigger than they were when we bought them, they still have a great time chasing each other and playing in our backyard.  It has taken a long time for them to learn to play together.  It is all so new to them and just takes time for them to learn and enjoy all of their new toys.  We are so glad they still enjoy these simple toys and activities.

Wiki Stix

There are SO many fun activities we want to do with the kids, and there never seems to be enough time to do everything we want to do.  We just restructured our school day, so we hope that we can have more fun free times together with this new schedule.  We decided to take Mondays and Fridays off from school and use these days as our fun days and days to do all of our errands and appointments.  We will then work very hard on school work for three days a week.  One of the things they love are Wiki Stix.  We haven't done it in a long time, and we had a lot of fun together.  Lori even made a bunny rabbit for Easter!

Dress-Up Time Again

One of the kids' favorite activities is to still play dress-up.  They received a lot of beads as a gift and loved them.  They got all dressed up and then dressed their bears all up.  They are growing up so fast, but we are so glad they still enjoy all of these fun activities.  They have learned so much about pretend play and how to use their imaginations, since they came home.  It is hard to believe we have now been home as a family for eight months!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

The kids learned all about St. Patrick's Day at school this week.  They had never celebrated it and loved all of the green decorations in the stores.  They learned about the fun part of this celebration with the leprechauns.  They made little toilet paper roll leprechauns.  They also learned about St. Patrick and the religious part of St. Patrick's Day.  They wrote their own story for one of their creative writing activities about St. Patrick and the Holy Trinity.  We try and do creative writing and an art activity as many afternoons as we can on school days.

S'Mores

One of our newest family events is making S'Mores outside.  The kids have never had marshmallows, and they love them!  So far, the pink marshmallows are their favorite.  We try to have pizza and S'Mores night outside once a week, while it is still cool.  There are so many new things we are still learning about the kids each day.
