Thank You Along With An Update

Dear Friends and Family,

Thank you so much for all of your love, support, prayers, and following our journey with us.  We are now starting our tenth week in Colombia, and it is hard to believe we have been here this long!  We just got an update from our agency representative here in Colombia that our final paperwork just reached the judge's office this past Tuesday, the 7th.  We did not know it had just arrived, and we are still waiting for his signature on our final paperwork.  Recently, the courts were closed for 6 days for training with the judges and computer network updates in the court, our Defensor working on our case was sick for 3 days, and everything was closed 1 day for a Colombian national holiday!  Now that judge has our paperwork, he has 10 days to sign it.  So, the last day for the Judge to sign the papers is Monday, the 20th, at 4pm, but we pray he signs it sooner.  We had our orginal flight planned for today but hope that we will be on a new flight home very soon!!!  When we get inpatient and tired of living in a hotel room for five all this time, we just look at our three beautiful children and remember that this is all part of God's plan.  Although the adoption hotel we are staying at is chaotic, loud, and full of distractions for our kids sometimes, we are thankful we have had this time to get to know our kids, where they could be surrounded by so many families and a staff that speak Spanish.  On Monday, there will 14 kids here!  Thank you for your prayers and we will keep you updated!

  1. Hello from a fellow adoptive family! We live in Sartell, MN and can remember so clearly our time in Bogota almost 5 years ago. We ended up in Bogota for almost 10 weeks and there were so many mixed emotions about that. My heart goes out to you now as you struggle with those same feelings. I'm sure you have had your moments of tears, anger, and frustration. You just want to get home and share your special gifts with all your loved ones! Yet, you are making very valuable memories with your kids in their birth country which is also so valuable. I remember how difficult it was as the weeks wore on and on, but I can tell you now that we see it as a blessing to have been there so long and we miss Colombia. I knew we would one day feel that way, but at the time, all we wanted was to get home. So, I just wanted to share that we, too, have been there. We will be praying for you and for that judge to have a speedy pen. We are so happy for you and your beautiful family of 5! Congrats!!

  2. Hello, we are another LSS family that arrived in Bogota exactly one year ago today to adopt our three beautiful children. I don't think any of us families that have been down there will ever forget the emotions we ALL go through. We of course were beyond excited to meet out three precious children but it is not easy to live as a family of 5 in a small hotel room. There is just not enough to do to keep them busy for that long! I will say, enjoy your time, because when you get home, you do not have Juanita making you meals or Valeria doing your laundry!!! We hope the judge signs soon so you can get home!

    Congratulations on your beautiful family!
